Welcome to
Queen Berengaria School, where Children are at the heart of all we do
Queen Berengaria School in Cyprus is a newly built school which serves the British military communities from Dhekelia and Ayios Nikolaos. It is larger than many of our schools, catering for children from Foundation Stage 2 to Year 6. In January 2023, we open our doors and look forward to welcoming 310 children. Children are at the heart of all we do. We have many years of experience supporting our Service families in Cyprus, and we are determined to make the very best of the short time children are with us.
We aim to encourage and develop children’s learning power so they know how to learn and be the best they can be within a warm and supportive environment. We offer a lively and engaging curriculum, which makes the most of our unique locality here in Cyprus and enables children to enjoy living and learning in another country and culture.
Every child matters, and we promote a ‘can-do’ attitude for all, ensuring children recognise that we all have different strengths, skills, knowledge and abilities.
We build self-confidence in our children by valuing and respecting our similarities and differences. We consider the parent-school partnership a vital part of every child’s education.
With our new team of staff and School Governing Body, we will work with our communities to establish our collaborative vision and goals for the future. We believe school life is not simply preparation for something in the future. Every day of a child’s school life is important and should be looked forward to with excitement and anticipation. Each child is unique, and their needs change as they grow. In our fantastic new purpose-built environments, our work will be to inspire them, care for them, challenge them and collaborate with them. Like our namesake, we will help our children to be courageous, independent, inclusive thinkers, to develop resilience and overcome adversity, and to understand the importance of trust, integrity and loyalty.
This set of values and qualities will ensure every student succeeds and Queen Berengaria School is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children and young people in our care. We understand that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and we expect everyone working at our school to share this commitment.
We hope you enjoy discovering our new school through this website, but this is no substitute for coming to see us and experiencing the school in action. We look forward to welcoming you and introducing you to the staff and especially to our children, who will give you a genuinely warm welcome and the most convincing recommendation – their own.
